Fed up with constantly adjusting the hinge clamp plates whenever you fold your Brompton? Look no further than Brompfication's Hinge Clamp Set. Our solution ensures the hinge clamp plates remain stable, eliminating rotation when engaging the lever bolt—making folding your bike a breeze.

To complement the raw lacquer Brompton models, we've crafted this version of our Titanium Hinge Clamp Set with polished brass handles.

How does it work? Our clamp plates feature a clever design—the extension of the terminal on one side prevents rotation when turning the lever bolt. A spring mechanism push the hinge clamp plate out, while a locknut stops the lever bolt at the perfect position after only a few turns. Watch the seamless functionality in action on our YouTube page.

Each set includes 2 Hinge Clamp Plates and 2 Hinge Clamp Lever Bolts, accompanied by locknuts, washers, and springs—everything needed for easy setup!

Please note, the Hinge Clamp Set is not compatible with the Brompton Tool Set.

Installation Guide for Brompfication's Hinge Clamp Set

Tools and Materials Needed:

  • Grease
  • Loctite (optional)

Step 1: Preparation

  • Begin by removing the original lever bolt and clamp plate from your Brompton bicycle.
  • Clean the hinge flanges thoroughly to ensure there is no debris or dirt. This will ensure a smooth installation process.

Step 2: Applying Grease

  • Apply a small amount of grease to the threads of the new Lever Bolt, this helps ensure smooth operation.

Step 3: Assembling the Lever Bolt

  • Place the washer onto the Lever Bolt first. Follow this by sliding the Clamp Plate and then the spring onto the bolt in that order.

Step 4: Installing the Assembly

  • Screw the Lever Bolt assembly into the hinge flange. Ensure that the longer terminal of the Clamp Plate aligns with the side of the flange you are screwing it into.

Step 5: Adjusting the Clamp Plate

  • Once the bolt is threaded through the flange, attach the lock nut to the end of the bolt.
  • Adjust the lock nut so that the longer terminal of the Hinge Clamp Plate overlaps the flange by approximately 2 mm. The other flange should just pass the short terminal of the Hinge Clamp Plate with a gap of about 1 mm.

    Important Notice:
  • The lock nut may require occasional readjustment to maintain optimal positioning of the clamp. To avoid this, you can apply a few drops of Loctite to the bolt threads before final tightening. This will secure the nut in place and prevent it from loosening over time.

By following these steps, you should have a securely installed Lever Bolt and Clamp Plate on your Brompton bicycle. For any further assistance or questions, please consult our customer service team.
